# Air accident investigation

Dr. Thomas M. Friesacher, MSc investigates incidents, operational disruptions and accidents in airline, helicopter and other commercial operations, and analyses general aviation occurrences, including training flights.

## From evidence to an opinion

1. **Evidence intake.** Secure the records and material using forensic methods.
2. **Scene investigation.** When the site is still accessible, survey it and preserve evidence.
3. **Accident analysis.** Analyse scene evidence, or review the file when a visit is no longer possible.
4. **Expert report.** An independent report based on the evidence and current scientific knowledge.
5. **Evidence assessment.** Separate supported findings from assumptions.
6. **Hearing.** Explain how the evidence supports each finding.
